Designing Tasks


Kinds of  Designing Task
In generally, there are 3 kinds of task or test in objective we find in the class first is true false, second is matching and third multiple choices. In subjective there are two kinds of test or tasks. First complicate or cloze task answer and sort answer. (Widoyoko 80-2013:50-85).
1.      The Example of True False
              These kinds of tests or tasks are made from statement and followed by alternative an answer of true or false. Widoyoko. (51:2013).
              Example:
              T-F    Indonesia has many islands.
              T-F    English language is second language is Indonesia.
          
             2.      The Example of True False.
This is very most popular method of task we know because we can see in every task of reading like in national examination. Generally this task is more than one choice or five choices. Widoyoko (2013:59)
 Examples:
1). He is not married. He is ……………………….
A. young
B. single
C. list
D. a husband 

2). Yeast is an organic catalyst …………..known to prehistoric

A.                 was
B.                 which was
C.                 which it
D.                 which

            3). Oscar          : Do you like champagne?
                 Lucy           : No, I can’t………………….it!
A.                 stand
B.                 prefer
C.                 hate

3.       The Example of Matching Tasks.
In this way the reader must match an appropriate the appropriate word, this task is like put or match a word in the left to the word or sentence or phrase in the right. (Widoyoko 2013:55)
Example:
Write in the letter of the definition on the right that matches the word on the left.

………… 2. Disappointed               b. understanding of others
………… 3. Enthusiastic                 c. tired
………… 4. Empathetic                   d. excited

Selected response fill-in vocabulary task:
1.              At the end of the long race, the runners were totally………………...

3.              Everyone in the office was ……… about the new salary raises.
4.              The ………. listening of the counselor made Christina well understood.

Choose from among the following:
disappointing
empathetic

4.      The Example of Cloze Tasks
In this way the reader or people who do the task must complete the sentence that is uncompleted. Widoyoko (2013:81).
Examples:
The recognition that one’s feeling of (1)………….and unhappiness can coexist much like (2) ……………and hate in a close relationship (3) ……………offer valuable clues on how to (4) ………….a happier life. It suggests, for (5) …………..that changing or avoiding things that (6) ………….. you are miserable may well make you (7) ………….. miserable but probably no happier.

5.      The Example of Short-Answer Tasks
Short answer is a question is made from statement that can be answered by one word, one phrase, one number or one formula. Widoyoko (2013:82)
Example:
1.    What do you think the main idea of this passage is?
2.    What would you infer from the passage about the future of air travel?
3.    In line 6 the word sensation is used. From the context, what do you think this word means?
Data above become example for teacher that kinds of tasks can teacher made based on their material in reading.
